Description (current Series EBC 08/09/F-III)

miniClima Constant Humidity Devices can be used for museum showcases, switchboards, deposit cupboards, containers and similar applications that can be closed air- and steam-tight. The devices serve to keep the relative air-humidity inside the case on a constant level without influencing the air-temperature.

The case has to be connected to the constant humidity device with flexible hoses and hose connectors (all part of the delivery), forming together a tight air circulation system (usually necessary diameters for the bore holes in the case wall: 25 mm for EBC 08/08F; 32 mm for EBC 09/09F). The air is exhausted from the case into the device where it is going to be conditioned and then led back into the case again. The whole process takes place without mixing inner system air and outside air.

The relative air-humidity is measured with a sensor (part of the delivery) that has to be installed inside the case. The programmable humidity controller on the front of the device initiates the appropriate action: dehumidification by condensation of surplus air-humidity; humidification by evaporation of condensate or distillate.

The current series of production offers two devices for different air-volumes to be processed at the utmost: EBC 08 (max. 3 m3) and EBC 09 (max. 5 m3). If the size of the case in question exceeds the capacity of one such standard device special slave units (EBC 08F, EBC 09F) that are controlled by the main device can be added to the case so as to increase the performance range up to the level needed. Certain circumstances might also allow using one single device for up to six cases at the same time (see Air Distribution Boxes).

The miniClima devices require electric supply through a standard socket-outlet only, but no water-pipe installations. All condensate or distillate is stored and taken from the unit's water bottle (0.5l). If needed the devices can also be ordered to be shipped with a 2.0l bottle.

The modes of operation "humidification" and "dehumidification" are indicated on the controller by red light spots. The spots extinguish as soon as the set value inside the case is reached. Should the set value not be reached within time an alarm goes off.

Operating elements (Series EBC 08/09/F-I through III): LAE controller; ON/OFF switch; power and alarm LEDs; reset button, cage clamps for the wires of the RH/T sensor, the trip line (to a slave unit) and the external composite error alarm; datalogger interface.

In addition to the alarm-LEDs on the housing, every device is equipped with a composite error alarm (activated along with any specific alarm), that switches both his own LED and a potential-free change-over contact, thus providing the user with the possibility to install an external alarming device, so as to ensure to be notified in time, when a non-routine intervention by the user is needed. The reset button on the front panel of the EBC quits the external alarm.

To be able to record the change of the air condition inside the case miniClima devices will be equipped with built-in dataloggers, if ordered as such (see Datalogger). Also, if it is required to have the air not only conditioned but filtered, too, we offer special air circulation filters, which can be integrated in the air circulation system of an accordingly equipped EBC (see here for details).

Each device is delivered ready-to-install and along with all necessary hoses, hose connections and cables, as well as with a detailed installation and operation guide.
